How Quick is Your Interviewing Process?

When you are looking for a candidate to fill an open position, especially in this current economic climate, it is really important to jump on good opportunities.  We have seen this firsthand many times.  While it may be tempting to interview “just one more” before pulling the trigger, you may be taking a big risk by doing so.  There are times when it is important to really trust your gut.  If the resume is good, the interview is great, and it’s clear that this is a person that fits your company culture, don’t wait!  You don’t want to lose an excellent candidate to the competitors. 

Have a Quick Hiring Process It may have once been acceptable to accept applications for a month, then slowly schedule an interview or two per week, host second round interviews, and then allow the HR department time to prepare formal offers.  That is not the case right now.  Even the passive candidates, who aren’t actively searching, are talking to multiple companies.  Don’t lose out on the talent pool by stretching out the hiring process.  Know who you are looking for, make that messaging clear.  When a solid resume comes through, schedule an interview right away, and if it still feels right, make the offer. 

Feel Good Interviewing Process Be as prepared for the interview as you expect the interviewee to be.  Know what you want to ask and what you’d like to hear in response before you enter the room.  Be prepared to offer details about the company, but don’t be so scripted that you’re uncomfortable allowing the conversation to continue organically. 

Remember Candidates are Interviewing You While you are seeking a solid and dependable team member, the person on the other end of the interview is seeking a fulfilling career that fits with his or her lifestyle.  Don’t forget to sell the candidate on all of the best aspects of your company culture.
